Mission, Vision, and Values
The mission of VTC Enterprises is to assist youth and adults with disabilities or other limitations in choosing and achieving their life goals.
VTC Enterprises was started in 1961 and incorporated in 1962 by a group of Santa Maria Valley parents seeking life skills services for their adult children with intellectual and physical disabilities. Over time, our services evolved and expanded to embrace increased community and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
VTC offers a wide range of services to approximately 350 individuals who have the most intense level of need with independent living or are considered hardest to place in employment. We also operate several commercial business services which train and employ the individuals we serve.
Other Services Offered to Individuals with Disabilities
Our services take place on facility and in the community, serving people at our main location in Santa Maria, satellite location in Lompoc, worksites on Vandenberg AFB and Naval Base Ventura County, and at various area industries and businesses. Our Quality Life Services department supports individuals with the most severe disabilities, for the most part addressing Life Skills (safety, self-advocacy and choice making, personal care and hygiene, functional academics, computer skills, banking and purchasing, communication and social, health and physical fitness, leisure and creativity, nutrition and food preparation) and includes a Sensory Integration program.
Our Integrated Work Services department also offers Life Skills training, but with a stronger employment and community component. For those who are largely focused on employment, we offer training and support through our Transition Partnership Program (preparing students to transition from high school into jobs) and Employment Solutions department, which address barriers to employment in a variety of areas (using public transportation, resumes and interviewing, job assessment, job development and placement, job training and coaching, employment procurement and retention). We directly employ people with disabilities through our small businesses (Landscaping and Custodial services, two Thrift Stores, Custom Catering, Bakery Basket, Innovative Printing Solutions, CyclePoint™ e-recycling and the AbilityOne® Program).
