Mission, Vision, and Values
MARC’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. MARC achieves this by promoting opportunities for individuals with disabilities to develop a sense of self-worth and dignity, acquire new skills, attitudes and experiences, and make choices among options for employment, recreation and social interaction.
MARC was founded in 1952 to provide educational services to children with developmental and intellectual disabilities. At the time, public schools were unable to meet their special needs, and parents of these children were encouraged to put their children in institutions. As schools began educating children with disabilities, MARC adapted to meet the needs of adults.
Today, MARC is Dane County’s largest provider of community and center-based employment and day services for adults with developmental disabilities. We emphasize the importance of choice, the joy of work, and the power of compassion. As a 501c3 nonprofit, MARC enhances the lives of more than 300 adults at five locations and at more than 130 community-based job sites.
